Why CLH

Most EITs spend their pre-license years as one of many junior engineers at a large firm, working on a slice of a building and waiting their turn. At CLH you would work directly with an electrical department head who has decades of experience, on whole projects, with the architects and the mechanical engineer down the hall. You would earn your PE on real buildings you designed, and there is a clear path from there to leading the electrical department.

The work is varied in a way few firms can offer. In the same year you might design power and lighting for an Air Force facility, a Forest Service or Park Service building, a manufacturing plant, a mine, and a new motorsports venue with a welcome center, museum, and restaurants.

Case, Lowe & Hart is a full-service architecture and engineering firm based in Ogden, Utah, with mechanical and electrical engineering in house. We design for federal agencies and for private clients in manufacturing, mining, commercial, and hospitality. Because architecture and engineering sit under one roof, coordination happens across a desk rather than across a contract, and every engineer sees how the whole building comes together. We are building a new office in Ogden, and we plan to be here for a long time.

The role

You will design building electrical systems from early design through construction: service and distribution, power, lighting, and low-voltage systems. That means load calculations, one-lines, panel schedules, fault current and voltage drop calculations, lighting layouts, specifications, and construction documents, with your mentor reviewing your work and helping you sharpen it. You will coordinate daily with our architects and mechanical engineer, answer RFIs and submittals, and get out to sites during construction.

What we are looking for:

• A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related ABET-accredited program, and a passed FE exam
• Roughly two to five years designing building electrical systems at an MEP, A/E, or design-build firm
• Working knowledge of the NEC, and Revit or AutoCAD for electrical design
• A plan to sit for the PE within the next year or two
• The ability to work in person in Ogden
