Job Description:

The Staff Electrical Engineer will lead the design, development, validation, and production release of complex Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) supporting next-generation Battery Management Systems (BMS) and electrical architectures. This role owns the complete hardware development lifecycle, including requirements definition, schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, board bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, sustaining engineering, and production support in a safety-critical energy storage environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the complete PCBA development lifecycle from concept through production release.

  • Develop electrical requirements, architecture documents, block diagrams, and design specifications.

  • Perform component selection and schematic capture using Altium Designer.

  • Lead multi-layer PCB design and layout reviews.

  • Review PCB layouts for:

    • Signal Integrity

    • Power Integrity

    • Manufacturability (DFM)

    • Reliability

  • Coordinate vendor DFM reviews and production release activities.

  • Develop board bring-up procedures and validation strategies.

  • Perform hardware debugging, verification, and root cause analysis.

  • Support sustaining engineering and field issue resolution.

  • Generate:

    • Design Documentation

    • Test Plans

    • Test Reports

    • Decision Matrices

    • 8D Corrective Action Reports

  • Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making.

  • Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 7 years of Electrical Engineering experience (5%2B years with Master\'s degree).

  • Extensive experience with Altium Designer or equivalent ECAD tools.

  • Experience owning complete PCBA development from concept through production.

  • Strong schematic capture experience.

  • Multi-layer PCB design experience.

  • Board bring-up and hardware validation expertise.

  • Experience throughout the complete hardware product development lifecycle.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • 1000BASE-T1 Ethernet

    • CAN-FD

    • SPI

    • UART

    • I2C

    • Data Acquisition Systems

    • Embedded Control Systems

    • MCU/MPU-based Hardware

    • Power Electronics

  • Experience in high-power or safety-critical industries such as:

  • Knowledge of:

    • UL 991

    • UL 1973

    • UL 1998

    • UL 9540

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Ability to independently lead hardware development with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills:

  • 10%2B years of Electrical Engineering experience.

  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) experience.

  • Electric Vehicle (EV) or automotive hardware development.

  • Industrial automation or power systems experience.

  • Experience performing:

    • DFMEA

    • CFMEA

  • Experience with:

    • Arena PLM

    • Teamcenter

  • SOM/SMARC carrier board development.

  • Deep hands-on PCB layout experience.

  • Production release and sustaining engineering experience.

  • Proven experience leading complex hardware development programs.

  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware and high-power electrical systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Master\'s degree preferred.

Certifications:

  • IPC CID/CID%2B Certification Preferred

  • Altium Designer Certification Preferred

  • Functional Safety (ISO 26262) Training Preferred

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Preferred
