About the role:
At Realtor.com, what you do has the potential to touch people in a real and meaningful way. We are dedicated to making the process of buying, selling, renting, and living in homes easier and more rewarding. With the most comprehensive and accurate real estate listings, we empower consumers with up-to-date information to help them find their dream homes. The Data and Analytics team processes and analyzes vast amounts of data to support millions of home buyers, sellers, and renters. You'll engage with some of the best and brightest coworkers and leaders, learn and contribute, and have a great time. If you enjoy working in a fast-paced, dynamic, cutting-edge environment and desire to make a meaningful contribution to the business, then make the move!
We are looking for a Staff Analytics Engineer to own the technical strategy, architecture, and delivery outcomes for our digital analytics clickstream platform. This is a senior individual contributor role with broad technical authority: you will define the measurement strategy, standards, architecture, and roadmap that other teams and engineers across product, marketing, and engineering build against.
The Clickstream Platform and Digital Analytics team sits at the intersection of the analytics and business teams who depend on trusted data and the engineering teams who build the systems that produce it. This role is where those worlds meet. You will act as the subject matter expert for clickstream data collection and measurement strategy across the organization, own the full lifecycle from defining what gets measured and why, through implementation and validation, to ensuring downstream teams have reliable, well-documented data they can build on. You will also drive cross-functional alignment on architecture decisions, mentor senior and mid-level engineers, analysts, and peers, and represent the data and analytics function in technical leadership and architecture review forums.
If you hold yourself to a standard of data quality that makes the difference between insights an organization trusts and data it works around, and you want to shape how an entire organization collects and governs its data, we encourage you to apply!
What You'll Do
Define the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for clickstream data collection across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and KPIs at scale
Own data collection outcomes across web and mobile products, accountable for the completeness, accuracy, and usability of clickstream data
Define what gets measured, why it matters, and how behavioral signals and event schemas serve analytics, reporting, and experimentation needs
Convert stakeholder questions into precise instrumentation specs (events, parameters, identifiers, schemas, data contracts) that engineers can implement without ambiguity across platforms
Proactively identify instrumentation gaps and drive resolution with engineering and QA teams
Analyze data to audit tagging and tracking health, surface improvement opportunities, and shape future measurement decisions
Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex data discrepancies and tracking issues, and drive the architectural changes that prevent recurrence
Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, analysts, and peers, and share instrumentation expertise across the organization
What You'll Bring
8-10+ years in digital analytics or clickstream tracking implementation at enterprise scale, with a record of owning outcomes end-to-end, not just executing tasks
Experience architecting, implementing, and operating enterprise clickstream platforms with technologies such as Amplitude, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Segment, Snowplow, Google Tag Manager, and Kafka
Hands-on experience designing event-based data models for web and mobile, including event taxonomies, parameter and identifier design, and data contracts
Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into precise instrumentation specifications and to orchestrate delivery across Product Engineering, Analytics, QA, and platform partners
Strong JavaScript for tracking implementation, fluency with browser and mobile debugging tools, and experience designing scalable data pipelines
SQL proficiency in a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake) to validate data quality, investigate anomalies, and own your analysis
Working knowledge of data governance, privacy, and consent frameworks (GDPR, CCPA) and their implications for instrumentation design
Experience enabling self-service analytics at scale through standardized metrics frameworks, reporting taxonomies, or dashboards
Demonstrated use of AI-enabled tools (Claude, Gemini, Cortex, Copilot, etc.) as a force multiplier in how you work
Excellent written and verbal communication: precise technical specs, documented architecture and governance decisions, and clear explanations of tradeoffs for non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to influence across engineering, product, marketing, and analytics
Experience with consumer digital products at scale, such as real estate, media, or marketplace platforms
Bachelor's degree in Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Marketing, or a relevant field
