Role: Staff Accountant

Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, performing account reconciliations, and supporting the financial operations of the health system. This role works closely with managers, directors, auditors, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations within established deadlines.
- Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies.
- Reconcile and report unclaimed property for the health system.
- Maintain the capital budget database.
- Establish and close projects within the project management system.
- Support managers with capital budget questions and project funding.
- Prepare capital acquisition and financial reports for leadership.
- Record monthly financial activity and prepare financial statements.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and budget variance analysis.
- Assist with budget preparation, audits, records retention, cash and credit card reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and equity entries.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and support special projects.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including managers and directors.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Preferred).
- 3–4 years of Staff Accountant or related accounting experience.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- Formulas and data analysis
- Experience with General Ledger reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience using accounting or financial software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare accounting experience.
- Fixed Asset Accounting experience.
- Experience with capital budgeting and capital project accounting.
- Experience supporting audits and financial compliance.
