    Description

    About the Role

The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the organization by managing day-to-day accounting functions, performing account reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting and budgeting. This is a role for someone who is detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and looking to grow in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Daily Accounting Operations: Assist with day-to-day accounting functions including cash and credit cards, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets and general ledger maintenance among other areas.
    • Reconciliations: Perform monthly account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
    • Journal Entries: Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring proper allocation of expenses and revenue to the appropriate accounts.
    • Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, and variance analysis.
    • Compliance: Work closely with the accounting team to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
    • Audit & Tax Support: Assist with tax preparation, audits, and other regulatory filings as needed.
    • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and provide support on accounting-related inquiries.
    • Process Improvement: Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounting department.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
    • High attention to detail and accuracy
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    Who You Are

You are a clear communicator who puts employees and partners first, a creative problem-solver who doesn't let things linger, and someone who moves fast without cutting corners. Above all, you hold yourself to a higher standard. In your work, your judgment, and how you treat people.

    What Onboarding Looks Like

In your first 30 days, you will learn the accounting systems, chart of accounts, and close processes while building relationships with your accounting team counterparts. By day 60, you will be managing your core responsibilities independently, including reconciliations and journal entries, with minimal oversight. By day 90, you are a reliable, fully productive member of the accounting team, contributing to close cycles on time and bringing a continuous improvement mindset to everything you touch.

The 5 Big Things — What Success Looks Like

    • Your work is accurate: Success means journal entries, reconciliations, and financial records are consistently correct the first time, with a low rate of errors that require correction or rework.
    • The close never slips because of you: Success means your close deliverables are completed on time every month, and the accounting team can count on you to meet deadlines without being chased.
    • You understand the numbers behind the work: Success means you are not just processing transactions but developing a genuine understanding of the business and bringing questions and insights when something looks off.
    • Compliance is maintained: Success means all accounting activity under your ownership follows GAAP and company policies, with proper documentation that holds up in audits and reviews.
    • You grow fast: Success is a Staff Accountant who is taking on more complex work at the end of the year than at the start, building toward a senior-level trajectory through the quality and consistency of their output.
