Staff Tax Accountant

Location: Seal Beach, California
Temp to perm
Pay range: $35 - $45 per hr. depending on experience
Experience: 3 - 5 years of public accounting or accounting firm experience

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Staff Tax Accountant with at least five years of tax and public accounting experience. This position will be responsible for preparing complex federal and state tax returns, assisting with tax planning and research, and working directly with clients throughout the year.

Responsibilities:
Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and estates.
Prepare complex individual and high-net-worth client tax returns.
Assist with trust and estate tax preparation and related tax matters.
Prepare quarterly and year-end tax projections and assist clients with proactive tax planning.
Research federal and California tax regulations and provide recommendations on complex tax issues.
Respond to IRS and California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) notices and assist clients with tax discrepancies.
Maintain strong client relationships and provide responsive, year-round tax support.
Review client financial information and identify potential tax-saving opportunities.
Assist senior tax professionals and partners with complex client engagements.
Maintain accurate workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm standards.
Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines during tax season.

Qualifications:
5+ years of tax preparation experience, preferably within a CPA or public accounting firm.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Strong experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
Experience with S Corps, C Corps, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals.
Trust and estate tax experience highly preferred.

CPA, EA, or CPA candidate preferred, but not required depending on experience.
Strong knowledge of federal and California tax regulations.
Experience with professional tax software such as UltraTax CS, Lacerte, ProSeries, CCH Axcess, ProSystem fx, or similar platforms.
Strong Excel skills. Canopy, and QuickBooks.
Excellent client communication, organization, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
