Staff Accountant
San Antonio, TX
We're partnering with a well-established organization in San Antonio that is looking to add a Staff Accountant to its growing accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who has a solid accounting foundation and is looking to continue building experience in reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvement.
You'll work closely with senior accounting and finance team members while gaining exposure to a variety of accounting functions that support the overall financial health of the organization.

What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare account reconciliations and investigate outstanding items
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation
- Help ensure the accuracy of balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Support financial reporting and analysis efforts
- Review accounting transactions for compliance with internal policies and procedures
- Assist with audit requests and provide supporting schedules as needed
- Partner with various departments to research and resolve accounting issues
- Maintain accurate accounting records and documentation
- Contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
What They're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting experience
- Experience with reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively across departments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, government, or public sector accounting
- Exposure to ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
