Staff Accountant

Talent Software Services is in search of a Staff Accountant for a contract position in Philadelphia, PA. Opportunity will be five months with a strong chance for a long-term extension.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

• Working under general supervision, prepares grant close outs, financial and other operating reports, as well as routine accounting tasks.
• Develops policies and programs affecting the overall organization
• Grants:
  • Ensure Grants and Awards established in ERP are set up appropriately including but not limited to Indirect Burdens, Billing Schedules, CFDA, Sponsor Numbers, Award Line Billing Revenue Categories
  • Monitoring and financial reporting of external and internal funding including time and effort, grant billing, labor cost allocations, labor cost transfers, non-labor cost transfers, grant fringe benefits and facilities and administration burdens.
  • Prepare grant closeouts including the review, accuracy and compliance with Enterprise and Sponsor guidelines.
• Customer Service:
  • Partner with Post Award Administration ensuring timely and compliance financial closeouts of grants.
  • Ensure emails and phone calls are responded to within 1 business day
  • Assist operations with all accounting and finance needs, such as reporting or training.
• Accounting Functions:
  • Transaction Processing - prepare and understand journal entries; ensure all compliant documentation is uploaded into the ERP along with the journal entries.
  • Review all posted entries into the general ledger to ensure accuracy.
  • Analyze and reconcile assigned accounts on a monthly basis
• Special Projects:
  • Audit: Support Annual Audit, Uniform Guidance Audit, Research Compliance Audit, Enterprise Internal Audits.
  • Other Special Projects
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 0-2 Years Experience

• Working knowledge of Workday General Ledger, Grants, Billing/Invoicing Functions preferred
• High level of concentration and ability to handle deadlines in pressure situation.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
• Need strong verbal/written communication skills.
