    The Opportunity

    We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with experience in commercial property management accounting. The ideal candidate is looking for a long-term home — a place where they can grow their expertise, take ownership of a meaningful portfolio, and work closely with experienced leadership. This is an on-site, full-time, exempt-status position.

     

    Primary Responsibilities

    •      Manage property tax information: ensure timely payments, record accruals, and track assessed values across the portfolio.

    •      Approve and occasionally initiate wire transfers.

    •      Maintain accuracy of cash management spreadsheets.

    •      Review new leases for applicable CAM provisions; document CAM-related terms in Yardi and Excel.

    •      Manage retail and percentage rents.

    •      Prepare CAM Reconciliations for a portfolio of properties; coordinate the entry of adjustments and distribution of backup to tenants.

    •      Review and process internal management fee payments.

    •      Maintain compliance with local and state governmental agencies for each entity; research requirements for newly acquired properties in new jurisdictions.

    •      Generate adjusting journal entries with supporting documentation.

    •      Perform monthly bank reconciliations.

    •      Assist with the semi-annual budget process covering property tax, insurance, business licenses, and FTB taxes.

    •      Review balance sheet accounts including AR, AP, prepaid expenses, and security deposits.

    •      Assist with onboarding newly acquired properties.

    •      Participate in the development, training, and implementation of new accounting policies, controls, and procedures.

    •      Support testing and implementation of new accounting software functions and features.

    •      Provide backup support for AP and AR staff as needed.

    •      Complete ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Director of Accounting.

     

    Skills & Qualifications

    •      B.A. in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent education and experience required.

    •      Minimum five years of accounting experience in commercial property management strongly preferred.

    •      Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; 10-key by touch.

    •      Experience with Yardi Voyager required; multiple modules preferred (Checkscan, Payscan, Commercial Cafe, CAM processing). Additional modules a plus: BillPay, Elevate Products, Voyager 8, Data Connect.

    •      Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment.

    •      Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively at all levels internally and externally.

    •      Ability to read and interpret legal documents including management agreements, loan agreements, and tenant leases.
