Job Summary
The Staff Accountant will execute and support all accounting-related activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accounting processes. This role specifically specializes in Leases, Fixed Assets, and Prepaid Expenses.
Job Responsibilities
- Fixed Asset accounting- recording fixed asset additions, disposals, and change requests. This includes processing all fixed asset transactions in the sub-ledger, per GAAP and company policies.
- Lease accounting, ensuring ASC 842 compliance- review lease agreements, prepare amortization, prepare monthly rent review, reconcile lease-related general ledger accounts.
- Prepaid accounting: identify & record new pre-paids, prepare amortization, analyze new invoices.
- Complete tasks during the month-end financial close process, including recording journal entries.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations within the established deadlines and ensure reconciling items are researched and resolved in accordance with company policy.
- Preparation and performance of ad hoc or ongoing projects and schedules as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a desire, willingness, and ability to grow beyond the advertised role, and at the appropriate time move to another role within Finance or the broader organization. This candidate should also have:
- In-depth knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, financial statement analysis, and internal controls.
- High level of interpersonal, written, verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- High level of confidentiality and professional skepticism.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, with a strong understanding of GAAP principles- CPA/MBA is a plus.
- Moderate to high level of competence in Microsoft Excel and Outlook- knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sage, or LeaseQuery is a plus.
