Job Purpose
New Destiny is seeking a detailed oriented and responsible Staff Accountant to join the Finance and Administration Department. This role supports the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, with a primary focus on accounts payable and cash management. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and cash receipts across multiple entities and properties. The position also assists with month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial reporting to maintain accurate and reliable financial records. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the Controller and has the following responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Disbursements
•Review vendor invoices and ensure accuracy of vendor details, service periods, quantities, and pricing.
•Process invoices in the accounting software and ensure costs are accurately allocated across various funding sources, cost centers, and dimensions.
•Ensure payment requests are approved in accordance with company protocols and processed on a timely basis.
•Process payments via check, ACH, and wire transfers; upload files into bank portals for positive pay.
•Maintain AP records including vendor W-9 forms, contracts, leases, certificate of insurance, invoices, purchase orders, vendor ACH forms, and payment confirmations.
•Ensure vendors are categorized correctly as 1099 vendors or non-1099 vendors and assist in preparing annual Form 1099 under the Controller’s supervision.

Accounts Receivable & Cash Receipts
•Ensure timely recording and deposit of all tenant receipts including direct deposits, checks, and money orders.
•Adjust tenant ledger as instructed by the Controller and the Senior Accountant.
•Assist with the timely recording of cash receipts from fundraising activities.

Accounting Closing
•Maintain a vendor invoicing calendar for utilities, insurance, office expenses and other recurring expenses, follow up with departments and ensure timely AP close each month.
•Reconcile periodic vendor statements with AP records and follow up with vendors and/or other New Destiny staff for corrections needed
•Accrue invoices that are not received at the end of each month.
•Assist with reconciling the company’s general operating account by ensuring all payments are recordedcorrectly.
•Reconcile all reserve accounts and tenant security deposit accounts.
•Maintain depreciation and amortization schedules and ensure recurring entries are properly recorded.
•Maintain tracking for debt service and reserves, and prepare reserve draw packages as needed
•Assist the Controller and Senior Accountant in preparing monthly reporting packages to the management and the investors.

Audit Support & Other Responsibilities
•Assist with annual audit preparation, including preparing confirmations and supporting documentation under supervision.
•Assist with budgeting and financial planning processes.
•Serve as backup for other finance functions and assist with additional projects as assigned.
•Ad Hoc tasks assigned by the CFO or Controller

Qualifications                                   
•  Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related degree. CPA and/or master’s degree 
preferred.
•  Minimum 3 years’ progressive accounting experience required with at least 2 years in accounts 
payable similar positions preferred.
•  Experience in non-profit or property management / real estate industry, particularly in 
multi-family a affordable housing experience strongly preferred.
•  Experience working with Sage or property management software preferred, such as: Rent Manager or 
Yar Breeze.
•  Experience working with auditors to prepare year end reporting package and supporting 
documentation preferred.
•  Proficiency in Excel and other MS Suite programs, particularly large data sorting, grouping, and 
filtering strongly preferred.
•  Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, adept at prioritizing and managing 
multiple tasks with time-sensitive deadlines preferred.
•  Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and problem-solving individuals with professional 
curiosity.

Compensation/Benefits
$62K - $68K per year with competitive benefits and a hybrid work schedule after the probation period. This is a full-time position with a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, short disability, PTO paid holidays, and 401(k). EOE
