We're looking for someone who brings accuracy and accountability to their work while understanding the bigger purpose behind the numbers.About the RoleAs the Staff Accountant, you'll play an important role in keeping the financial operations of The Just One Project accurate, organized, and moving forward.Working closely with our Director of Finance, you'll support day-to-day accounting activities, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, grant reimbursement documentation, financial reporting, and compliance. You'll help make sure our records are accurate, our documentation is complete, and the resources that fund our programs are responsibly managed.This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who loves a good spreadsheet, appreciates when everything reconciles exactly as it should, and wants their work to have an impact beyond the numbers.The ideal person for this role is detail-oriented, dependable, comfortable managing competing deadlines, and able to bring both precision and problem-solving to a busy nonprofit environment.This is a full-time position requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required during audits, special projects, or organization-wide events.What You'll DoMaintain accurate and organized financial records, including invoices, receipts, vendor documentation, W-9s, ACH forms, and in-kind donation recordsUse QuickBooks Online to enter, organize, and manage financial transactions and supporting documentationProcess ACH and invoice payments and complete payment verificationsAssist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activitiesReconcile credit card expenses, bank transactions, and balance sheet accountsPrepare journal entries and support monthly financial close and Finance Department checklist activitiesAssist with monthly and quarterly grant reimbursement requests, including gathering invoices, receipts, timesheets, proof of payment, and other required backup documentationComplete reimbursement forms and transaction worksheets and help organize complete, audit-ready reimbursement packetsPrepare weekly deposit logs and partner with the Development team to reconcile financial informationCollect and organize staff timesheets by pay periodMaintain and update vendor information in QuickBooks OnlineSupport deposits, withdrawals, financial documentation, and record storageHelp ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting requirements, internal policies, grant requirements, and financial controlsSupport the Director of Finance and Executive Leadership with special projects and other financial or administrative needsRepresent The Just One Project at organization-wide events, including participation in six mandatory Pop Up & Give events each yearWhat You BringBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldFive or more years of accounting experienceStrong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principles, including FASB standards and fund accountingDemonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks Online and Microsoft ExcelStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to stay organized, meet deadlines, and successfully manage multiple prioritiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsA high level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism when handling confidential financial informationA valid, unrestricted driver's license and reliable transportationLegal authorization to work in the United StatesA commitment to teamwork, accountability, and living out our core values of Respect, Integrity, Innovation, and CompassionPreferred QualificationsCPA license or progress toward CPAExperience with restricted funding and government grant accountingOne or more years of nonprofit experienceCompensation and BenefitsAs a Staff Tier team member, you'll receive:Health, Dental, and Vision coverageAdditional insurance options including Life Insurance, AD&D, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability, and Pet Insurance401k retirement plan with 3% employer matchPaid Time Off, accrued from your start date2 floating holidaysBirthday PayBereavement payPaid parental leave6+ weeks of paid holiday time off per yearThe Just One Project is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
