SUMMARY Performs professional accounting duties requiring the application of accounting principles, financial analysis, independent judgment, and discretion. Responsible for general ledger accounting, financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close activities, budgeting support, internal controls, and audit coordination. The Staff Accountant partners with Finance, Operations, Human Resources, and other departments to analyze financial information, identify trends and variances, ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures, and recommend process improvements that strengthen financial performance and internal controls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare, review, and maintain general ledger accounts and supporting schedules. Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other adjusting entries. Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances, unusual transactions, and reconciling items. Analyze financial results and provide explanations for significant budget-to-actual and period-over-period variances. Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules. Participate in month-end and year-end close activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning activities. Review accounting transactions for compliance with company policies, procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Research accounting issues and recommend appropriate accounting treatment and solutions. Identify process improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and improve financial reporting accuracy. Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, gathering supporting documentation, responding to auditor requests, and implementing corrective actions as required. Evaluate and monitor internal accounting controls and recommend enhancements where appropriate. Analyze account activity and trends and communicate findings and recommendations to management. Collaborate with Operations, Purchasing, Human Resources, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and support business objectives. Assist with fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, cost accounting, or other specialized accounting functions as assigned. Utilize NetSuite, Excel, and other business systems to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and support decision-making. Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, vendor, customer, and Company information. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including invoice processing, customer billing, cash application, and payment reconciliation. Investigate and resolve vendor, customer, and account discrepancies while maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Support account reconciliations, audits, month-end close activities, and financial reporting using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible accounting experience required. Experience with: General ledger accounting Financial reporting Journal entries Account reconciliations Month-end close Financial analysis NetSuite experience preferred. Corridor experience a plus. Manufacturing, aerospace, or multi-department accounting environment experience preferred. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; and four to six years of related accounting experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with ERP systems, financial reporting, account analysis, reconciliations, budgeting support, and internal controls is strongly preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and apply accounting standards, company policies, financial statements, business correspondence, contracts, reports, and other business documents. Ability to prepare professional reports, financial analyses, business correspondence, and management summaries. Ability to effectively communicate financial information and recommendations to Team Members, supervisors, managers, auditors, vendors, customers, and members of the business community. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate and interpret percentages, ratios, variances, accruals, depreciation, inventory valuations, allocations, forecasts, and financial trends. Ability to analyze financial information and prepare detailed reports, schedules, and reconciliations. Ability to work with concepts of financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and statistical analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, analyze financial information, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret accounting policies, regulations, and business processes and apply sound judgment in resolving accounting issues. Ability to manage multiple priorities while exercising considerable independent judgment and discretion. COMPUTER SKILLS Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis functions. Experience with ERP systems, preferably NetSuite. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
