Staff Accountant – Take Ownership, Build Your Expertise, Make an Impact

Are you a hands-on accounting professional ready to take ownership of the general ledger and play a key role in a company's financial operations? An established manufacturing business in Elmhurst, IL, is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join its close-knit finance team.

This Staff Accountant opportunity offers the chance to take responsibility for the month-end and year-end close, strengthen your technical accounting skills, and gain broad exposure across the full accounting cycle. Rather than being confined to a narrow area of accounting, you will have genuine ownership, direct access to management, and the opportunity to make a visible contribution to the business.

For a Staff Accountant looking for greater responsibility, variety, and professional development, this is an excellent opportunity to take the next step in your career.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

    • Real ownership: Lead the month-end and year-end close, manage the general ledger, and take accountability for the accuracy of financial reporting.

    • Broad accounting exposure: Develop expertise across general ledger accounting, financial statements, reconciliations, audit support, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

    • A close-knit team: Join a collaborative environment where your contribution matters and you can work closely with colleagues across the accounting function.

    • Visibility and influence: Work directly with management, investigate financial variances, and help improve accounting procedures and internal controls.

    • Technical development: Build valuable experience in manufacturing accounting, GAAP, financial reporting, and audit preparation.

    • Opportunity to improve processes: Bring your ideas to the table and help enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of accounting operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Own the general ledger and manage month-end and year-end close activities from start to finish.

    • Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, depreciation, and other necessary adjustments.

    • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items.

    • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.

    • Coordinate annual audit preparation and provide documentation to external accounting and tax advisors.

    • Support AR and AP activities, including invoicing, cash application, vendor processing, and account reconciliations.

    • Maintain internal controls, support tax and 1099 reporting, and contribute to accounting process improvements.

    What You Will Bring

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

    • 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, including ownership of the financial close.

    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, journal entries, reconciliations, and full-cycle AR/AP.

    • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

    • A detail-oriented, proactive, team-first approach; manufacturing and Epicor ERP experience are advantageous.

Ready for more ownership in your accounting career? If you are a Staff Accountant seeking a well-rounded role where you can strengthen your expertise and make a meaningful contribution, we encourage you to apply.
