Description

Griffen Plumbing & Heating, LLC (GPH), a PE-backed mechanical contractor, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This position will work closely with the Controller and support day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, job costing, billing, and financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Support construction billing, job costing, and percentage-of-completion (WIP) tracking.
  • Maintain and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
  • Process and maintain transactions in Sage Intacct and BuildOps, including AP entries and job cost setup and tracking.
  • Support payroll processing and payroll tax compliance through ADP, including 941, FUTA, and state SUTA requirements.
  • Assist with credit memos and bad debt processing in accordance with GAAP.
  • Provide documentation, schedules, and analysis for internal and external audit requests.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready accounting records.
  • Assist the Controller with financial reporting, accounting projects, and other responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of accounting experience; construction or contractor accounting experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
  • Strong Excel skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or exposure to construction billing, job costing, and WIP schedules and payroll tax compliance.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct, BuildOps, and/or ADP.

Position Details

  • Salary Range: $62,000–$70,000 annually, depending on experience
  • Work Location: In-office position; remote work is not available
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
