Staff Accountant

ROLE IMPACT
Support the Chief Financial Officer in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reporting, and strengthening accounting operations within a growing lending organization. Success in this role is measured by the accuracy of financial data, efficient month-end close activities, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvements that support business growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare journal entries, reconcile bank, cash, and balance sheet accounts, and maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP.
* Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, loan-related accounting transactions, cash reporting, and fixed asset accounting.
* Assist with monthly and year-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit support, tax preparation, and regulatory reporting.
* Maintain strong internal controls, improve accounting processes through automation and efficiency initiatives, and support special finance projects.
* Cross-train to provide backup coverage for accounting functions and perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Experience with general ledger accounting and month-end close processes.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, attention to detail, analytical abilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* CPA certification or active progress toward CPA designation.
* Experience supporting external audits and working in a small or growing organization.
