Vector Talent Solutions is a veteran-owned workforce solutions firm dedicated to helping organizations identify, attract, and hire top talent. We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to support accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across business operations.
The Staff Accountant performs professional accounting work supporting the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Vector’s financial records across multiple business entities and operating activities. Reporting to the Controller, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries and reconciliations, supports month-end and year-end close, analyzes account activity, maintains fixed asset and intercompany accounting, and assists with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Working closely with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Payroll, and other cross-functional partners, the Staff Accountant applies established accounting principles, policies, and controls to maintain accurate financial data, research and resolve discrepancies, and support consistent and effective accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Account Reconciliations
- Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries and maintain supporting schedules.
- Ensure transactions are recorded accurately within the appropriate accounts, entities, periods, cost centers, and job structures.
- Prepare balance sheet, general ledger, and bank account reconciliations.
- Analyze account activity, investigate variances and discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items.
- Maintain accurate supporting documentation and accounting records in accordance with established policies and controls.
Month-End, Year-End & Financial Reporting
- Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany activity, and revenue and expense cut-off.
- Complete assigned close schedules, reconciliations, and checklist requirements within established deadlines.
- Assist in preparation of month-end financial packages and supporting schedules.
- Support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other accounting analysis as assigned.
- Review financial data for accuracy and completeness and identify matters requiring additional research or correction.
Job, Equipment & Fixed Asset Accounting
- Coordinate with Operations to obtain contracts, project details, customer information, and other documentation required to establish new jobs or projects.
- Apply established job setup, coding hierarchy, cost center, and accounting requirements to ensure jobs are established consistently and accurately.
- Apply company accounting policies to equipment and fixed asset transactions, including capitalization, classification, depreciation, and job or cost center assignment.
- Prepare journal entries for fixed asset additions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset and equipment ledgers and research identified discrepancies.
Intercompany & Accounting Operations
- Record, reconcile, and support settlement of intercompany transactions and balances across affiliated entities.
- Assist with the review and posting of accounts receivable invoices and related accounting activity.
- Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable/Billing, Payroll, Operations, and other functions to research transactions and maintain accurate financial data.
- Apply established accounting policies and U.S. GAAP when reviewing assigned transactions and account activity.
- Support internal and external audit requests and provide applicable schedules and supporting documentation.
Accounting Controls & Process Improvement
- Maintain accounting documentation and supporting records in accordance with established internal controls and retention requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reconciliations, documentation, system utilization, and internal controls.
- Recommend practical process improvements and support implementation of approved changes.
- Assist with accounting system, reporting, data validation, and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Escalate complex accounting matters, significant discrepancies, or matters requiring higher-level accounting judgment to the Controller or appropriate Finance leader.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required.
- Two or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial statement preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies and variances, research underlying causes, and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience with accounting or ERP systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving, and ability to manage multiple priorities and recurring close deadlines.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment, work independently within established accounting policies and controls, and appropriately escalate complex matters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Accounting, Finance, Operations, and other business functions.
- CPA or CPA-track experience is a plus but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and other job-related factors. The pay range for this role is $55,000-65,000 Annually.

This position is on-site. Periodic travel to Vector, client, operational, vendor, or project locations may be required based on business needs.
