Staff Accountant

StaffBuffalo is working with a growing organization to hire a Staff Accountant, paying $65,000-$75,000 depending on experience. If you enjoy accounting, operations, creating SOP’s and embracing technology this is the role for you. This Staff Accountant role will support core accounting functions, financial records, reporting, billing, compliance, and administrative accounting needs while working closely with financial leadership.

The Staff Accountant will take immediate ownership of Accounts Receivable activities, including outstanding invoice payment follow-ups and sales tax certificates, along with certificates of insurance, new customer and vendor account setup in QuickBooks and related systems, and increasingly frequent customer and vendor onboarding packages. The Staff Accountant role requires a strong accounting foundation and someone who can bring structure to the function by putting standard operating procedures in place while embracing technology and change.

Over time additional responsibilities are expected to move into this role, including new customer and vendor credit reference verification, quarterly sales team commission checks, vendor commissions, deposits, lien waivers, customer-specific third-party audits, and monthly and annual tax and compliance work.

This is an in-office, opportunity with a collaborative team that has grown significantly and is thoughtful about each new hire. The organization is looking for a long-term team member who is excited to contribute to a growing business, take ownership of accounting details, improve processes, and grow with the finance function over time.

This is an in-office, onsite Monday-Friday role located in the Northtown's.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Accounts Receivable activities, including outstanding invoice payment follow-ups and sales tax certificates.
• Maintain certificates of insurance and set up new customer and vendor accounts in QuickBooks and related systems.
• Complete customer and vendor onboarding packages and maintain accurate supporting documentation.
• Take on new customer and vendor credit reference verification, quarterly sales team commission checks, vendor commissions, and deposits as responsibilities transition.
• Organize and maintain lien waivers and support customer-specific third-party audits.
• Support monthly and annual taxes and compliance activities as responsibilities transition into the role.
• Use QuickBooks, Excel, and Microsoft Office tools to support accounting operations, establish standard operating procedures, improve processes, and embrace new technology and change.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• QuickBooks experience and proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong accounting and bookkeeping foundation with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
• Self-starter who collaborates well, follows through on tasks, and communicates effectively with customers and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality work and staying organized.
• Flexible, team-oriented approach with an interest in learning new software, improving processes, putting standard operating procedures in place, and embracing technology and change.
