As the Staff Accountant, you will work closely with accounting leadership and project managers to support the financial performance of construction projects from setup through completion.
Maintain project budgets and accurately track job costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses
Prepare progress billings, AIA billing documentation, final invoices, and supporting accounts receivable documentation
Partner with project managers on purchase orders, cost tracking, change orders, and project financial analysis
Process subcontractor pay applications, vendor invoices, lien waivers, and surety bond documentation
Assist with month-end close, including account reconciliations and journal entries
Prepare and maintain WIP schedules and job cost reports to monitor project profitability and cost performance
Research project cost discrepancies and ensure expenses are coded accurately
Support percentage-of-completion accounting and project revenue recognition
Help ensure the Staff Accountant function provides timely and accurate financial information to project and accounting leadership
The ideal Staff Accountant will bring:
2+ years of accounting experience
Construction industry accounting experience required
Understanding of construction terminology and project-based accounting
Hands-on knowledge of job costing and WIP reporting
Familiarity with percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and lookup functions
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, accounting leadership, and other operational teams
Experience with AIA billing, lien waivers, subcontractor accounting, or construction ERP systems is a plus
