Staff Accountant
LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant for a growing organization in the Phoenix area. This opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and eager to contribute to a collaborative finance team.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records.
Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare supporting schedules and financial reports for management review.
Analyze financial data and identify variances or unusual transactions.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities.
Assist with audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor requests.
Reconcile bank accounts, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and GAAP standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
2+ years of accounting experience in a corporate accounting environment.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
Experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
Proficiency with Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
Knowledge of GAAP and accounting best practices.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
CPA or CPA-track candidates are highly preferred but not required
Preferred Experience
Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience.
Experience supporting audits.
Exposure to budgeting and financial analysis.
Manufacturing, healthcare, construction, distribution, or service industry accounting experience.
