LHH is seeking a Staff Accountant for a confidential client within the consumer services industry in Phoenix, Arizona. This fully onsite opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional looking to further develop their skills in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while gaining exposure to a variety of accounting functions.

The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting daily accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end activities, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organization. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with finance leadership and make a meaningful impact on business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries while ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards

  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, and general ledger transactions

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed

  • Review financial data and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate reporting

  • Maintain accounting records, schedules, and supporting documentation

  • Help prepare financial reports and analysis for management review

  • Monitor account activity and perform routine account reconciliations

  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting-related questions

  • Support audits and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred

  • Previous accounting experience in a Staff Accountant, Accounting Clerk, Bookkeeper, Accounting Assistant, or similar role

  • Understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting concepts

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining attention to detail

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within a consumer services, retail, or service-based environment

  • Exposure to month-end close processes and account reconciliations

  • ERP or accounting software experience
