Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

Student Health Services (SHS) provides primary and mental health care for UNC Greensboro

students. As a health organization operating within an academic institution, we are committed

to the support of the educational, research and service missions of the University.

Position Summary

The Spartan Recovery Program is a program of Student Health Services Mental Health and Well-Being that is available, free of charge, to UNCG students in all phases of recovery from addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs. The SRP is not a treatment program; rather, we focus on creating a network of recovery support services that promote the personal, academic, and professional goals of students in recovery. The vision of the SRP is to be a model recovery-minded community that engages and encourages UNCG students in their pursuit of an enriched college experience and sustained recovery.

The SRP creates a recovery-minded community of empowerment, purpose, and inclusion, in which UNCG students in all phases of recovery can pursue their personal, professional, and academic goals for the purpose of enhancing personal wellness and contributions to the global community. The program providers Peer Support Recovery Coaching, recreational activities, monthly Celebration of Recovery events, opportunities for personal, professional, and academic development, housing supports, referral to additional treatment and support services. This

SRP Coordinator position is responsible for coordinating and further developing the Spartan Recovery Program (SRP) at UNCG. The person in this position will develop and implement educational, social, and service programs as described above for the SRP, as well as oversee all aspects of the program, including promotion of the program.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
• Familiarity with various pathways to recovery and a recovery-oriented continuum of care.
• Two years of related experience.
• Knowledge of issues specific to young adults in recovery.
• Experience with program development, coordination and evaluation.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or related discipline strongly preferred.
• Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) in the state of North Carolina.

• Oversees membership of the SRP, including recruitment with special consideration for traditionally underserved groups, and membership engagement and recovery support, including developing individualized Recovery Plans with student members.

• Develops, implements, and evaluates educational, social, and service programs for the SRP, as well as oversee all aspects of the program, including promotion of the program.

Planning and Organizing

Essential Tasks

• In collaboration with campus partners, designs, implements, and evaluates campus activities aimed at promoting recovery, such as delivering presentations and other co-curricular programming such as informal and formal discussions, film series, etc., on the issues of Collegiate Recovery to raise awareness of Collegiate Recovery, including overseeing the Recovery Zone program.

Communication and Teamwork

Essential Tasks

• Networking on and off campus to create a referral network to meet members need of services beyond the scope of the SRP, develop partnerships for the purpose of furthering the SRP mission, engage in fundraising.
