Senior Transportation Engineering Leader

Compensation: $150,000–$185,000 + Sign-On Bonus

Are you an experienced transportation engineering professional ready to take on a leadership role with significant influence over growth, clients, and project delivery?

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned engineer to help expand a growing South Dakota presence while leading projects, developing client relationships, mentoring a local team.

The Opportunity

This position offers a unique combination of technical leadership, business development, project management, and team development. The ideal candidate will be well connected within the South Dakota transportation industry and comfortable taking an active role in developing new business and strengthening existing client relationships.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Build and expand relationships with SDDOT, municipalities, and other public-sector clients throughout South Dakota.
• Identify upcoming opportunities and develop strategies to position the team for new transportation projects.
• Take a leadership role in proposals, presentations, interviews, and client pursuits.
• Help grow the Sioux Falls office by recruiting, mentoring, and developing talented engineering professionals.
• Serve as a key Project Manager for transportation, roadway, traffic, and planning projects.
• Lead projects from initial scope through completion while managing schedules, budgets, resources, and quality.
• Provide technical direction and review of engineering deliverables.
• Work closely with regional leadership to establish priorities for market growth, staffing, and project development.
• Become a trusted resource and point of contact for clients throughout the region.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Active South Dakota PE license, or the ability to obtain one within six months.
• At least 10 years of transportation, roadway, traffic, planning, or civil engineering experience.
• Experience managing projects and providing leadership to engineering teams.
• A demonstrated track record of developing business and securing new work.
• Experience working directly with South Dakota DOT.
• Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor and motivate others.

A Plus If You Have

• Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads, or comparable transportation design software.
• A strong background in roadway/civil design, traffic engineering, or transportation planning.
• Established relationships with Sioux Falls-area municipalities or public agencies.
• Experience helping grow or develop an engineering office or regional market.

Compensation & Benefits

• $150,000–$185,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
