HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL DOSummary:- The primary objective of this position is to represent Rockford Manufacturing/Operations on New Product Introduction (NPI) program core teams.
- This involves managing the technical transfer of new products and processes into successful production.
- This role is responsible for the effective product and manufacturing process development and transfer for new products using project management best practices.
- Representing Manufacturing/Operations as a core team member on new product core teams, this individual will ensure all stakeholders within the operations functions, and within the project team, are properly represented.
- This requires that all product infrastructure and processes are defined, documented, verified, and managed while reducing manufacturing and operations risk at each phase of the transfer process.
Key Responsibilities:- Represent Manufacturing and Operations on new product introduction core teams.
- Partner with Program Management, R&D, Technical Operations (Manufacturing Sciences and Engineering), and Manufacturing work centers to deliver highly reproducible products and processes.
- Develop and maintain detailed plans and schedules for all tasks owned by Manufacturing/Operations.
- Perform manufacturing process design reviews and risk assessments.
- Generation and maintenance of the Manufacturability Index both as a separate deliverable and as part of the project's Operations Report.
- Create and update documented transfer plans, reports and status updates.
- Prepare presentations and conduct reviews for Manufacturing/Operations readiness.
- Prepare written work instructions and manufacturing product documentation based on drafts from R&D, Manufacturing or other sources.
- Implement developmental outputs into product infrastructure, SKU creation, manufacturing process, documentation and procedures.
Leadership Required:- Identify and proactively involve the appropriate individuals to participate in the NPI process (including partners and stakeholders at other sites and sometimes in other countries)
- Provide project and program leadership by effectively influencing without direct authority
- Work hand-in-hand with other areas of the business to identify actions proactively rather than reactively
- Make certain that all members of the NPI Core and Extended teams are effectively working from the same goals/forecast and are aligned

- Understanding and adapting to strategic plans while operating tactically to achieve project plans and deliverables.
- Building relationships between departments and individuals with multiple goals and priorities.
- Motivating people to be responsible and accountable for something that may not be their top priority
- Finding proactive ways to identify and mitigate project risks and gaps in a constantly changing environment.
- Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering or related field with 5+ years post undergraduate experience.
- Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities and projects
- Requires the ability to influence upwards and across functions and businesses
- Understands overall manufacturing processes and has the ability to proactively identify constraints and improvement opportunities
- Understands the key concepts of lean manufacturing and ISO 9001 requirements
- Strong project management skills and knowledge
- PRMS, E1 and/or other ERP experience
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and V-Lookups) and ability to use Microsoft Project
- Familiar with Design Excellence tools and principles: Six Sigma, DFSS, and DOE
- Familiar with statistical analysis software such as JMP and/or Minitab.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred but not required.
Additional Notes:- In terms of experience, Project Management Professional (PMP certification) is preferred but not required.
- A BS degree in life sciences (biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, etc) would also be desirable. Experience with design transfer from R&D to Manufacturing would be good experience for this role.
