Amazon Smart Vehicles is building the next generation of in-vehicle AI experiences - delivering Amazon"s Custom Assistant (ACA) to global automotive OEMs. We"re looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive feature

launches and OEM partner engagements from concept through production.

In this role, you will:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of customer-facing features across the ACA platform, coordinating cross-functional engineering teams (software, QA, platform, AI/ML) to hit launch timelines.
  • Serve as the primary technical program interface with OEM partners - managing joint roadmaps, integration milestones, and partner escalations
  • Drive alignment across product, engineering, and business development to ensure feature readiness, quality bar, and launch criteria are met
  • Identify and mitigate program risks across complex, multi-team dependencies spanning cloud services and third-party integrations
  • Define and improve program mechanisms - status reporting, milestone tracking, decision frameworks - that scale as we onboard new OEM partners

You"ll thrive here if you enjoy operating at the intersection of technology and business, can context-switch between deeply technical trade-off discussions and partner facing communications, and want to shape how millions of drivers interact with AI in their vehicles.

Automotive industry experience is preferred but not required - what matters most is strong technical judgment, a bias for action, and experience delivering complex, multi-stakeholder programs at scale.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end program execution for feature launches on the Amazon Custom Assistant platform - from requirements through delivery, validation, and production release
  • Own the OEM engagement lifecycle: onboarding, integration planning, milestone tracking, issue resolution, and launch readiness across partner programs
  • Build and maintain program schedules across multiple workstreams, identifying critical path, dependencies, and resource constraints; proactively escalate risks with mitigation options
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Software, QA, AI/ML, Platform, UX, Product) to deliver against committed timelines and quality bar
  • Lead technical program reviews with engineering leadership and OEM partners - translating complex technical status into clear, actionable narratives
  • Define and drive launch readiness criteria, go/no-go decisions, and release processes for OEM-facing feature deliveries
  • Partner with Product Management on partner roadmap alignment, scope negotiations, and trade-off decisions
  • Establish and improve program mechanisms - sprint planning, dependency tracking, retrospectives, operational metrics -to increase delivery velocity and predictability
  • Manage cross-timezone coordination across US, India, and partner teams (EU/India) to ensure seamless execution
  • Contribute to organizational best practices by documenting playbooks, onboarding frameworks, and repeatable processes for scaling to new OEM partners

A day in the life

You"ll start mornings syncing with engineering leads across US and India on feature delivery status, unblocking dependencies, and triaging risks. It will later shift to OEM partner coordination - reviewing integration progress, aligning on milestone deliverables, and resolving technical escalations. You"ll run weekly program reviews with Product, Engineering, QA, and Business Development leadership to drive decisions and maintain launch cadence.

Internal stakeholders: Engineering, QA, AI/ML, Platform and Product Management

Customers: Global automotive OEMs integrating Amazon"s Custom Assistant into their vehicles.

Problems you"ll solve: Shipping features on time across complex multi-team dependencies, keeping OEM partners unblocked and aligned, and scaling delivery mechanisms as we onboard new partners.

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
