POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a Sr. Technical Analyst to join the Team AVL Tech SMEs sub-pod within EnFin's Offering Development organization to serve as the deep-domain technical authority for all photovoltaic modules and racking / mounting systems on the EnFin Approved Vendor List (AVL). The ideal candidate will have experience in residential solar with broad coverage of the PV module and roof-mount racking vendor landscape and will work closely with the Sr. Technical Analyst BESS/Inverter , the AVL Integrations Engineer, the AVL Project Management sub-pod, Team IRA, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Field Operations, and the  Qcells in-house module organization. Note: Qcells manufactures modules but does not produce racking, so racking coverage is exclusively third-party while  Qcells module readiness across variant breadth is a primary internal-alignment responsibility.

This position will be based out of our San Francisco, CA office with an in-office schedule set at the direct manager’s discretion in accordance with the company policies and procedures. Remote may be considered in exceptional cases. Travel up to 25%.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own technical evaluation, OEM qualification, technical onboarding, and annual AVL technical refresh for modules (Qcells Q.PEAK / Q.TRON families, REC, Panasonic, LG, Silfab, Mission Solar, Jinko, Trina, Canadian Solar, Longi, JA Solar, Maxeon/SunPower) and racking systems (IronRidge, Unirac, SnapNrack, Pegasus, QuickMount PV, EcoFasten, Roof Tech, S-5!, K2 Systems, Schletter); lead technical scoring on RFPs and report quality and reliability trends at QBRs.
  • Own the accuracy of module and racking records in the Airtable AVL golden record — setpoints, datasheet parameters, structural ratings, certifications — and audit third-party design tool libraries (Aurora, Solargraf, Solo, OpenSolar) for accurate product representation; partner with the AVL Integrations Engineer on schema mapping into Salesforce Master Equipment.
  • Define authoritative technical parameters for each approved module (Pmax, Voc, Isc, temperature coefficients, NOCT, degradation curves, UL 61730 / IEC 61215, fire class, hail rating) and structural parameters for each racking system (ASCE 7 wind/snow ratings, PE-stamped engineering by state, supported roof types, span tables, UL 2703 grounding/bonding, attachment / flashing compatibility); maintain module + racking + attachment + flashing compatibility matrices.
  • Run pre-launch AVL readiness reviews on the full Qcells module portfolio and its many variants — Q.PEAK DUO and Q.TRON families, power-class binning's, all-black vs silver-frame variants, modules paired with the Qcells Q.MI microinverter (directly integrated or attached to the module backside), and successor platforms; coordinate readiness milestones with the Qcells module organization.
  • Attend pilot installations, support O&M escalations and RMAs (leak claims, racking corrosion, module glass / cell failures), and conduct failure-mode analysis; deliver technical training to internal teams and external TPO partners.
  • Author and maintain the AVL requirements documents for PV module and racking products on the AVL Hub — defining the technical, certification, structural, and compatibility bar (UL 61730, UL 2703, IEC 61215, ASCE 7, NEC, IBC / IRC, interconnection) that OEMs must clear for approval. Curate the virtual data room in Airtable that holds OEM-submitted compliance records, certification artifacts, structural / PE-stamped engineering coverage by jurisdiction, and supporting documentation for products applying to and approved on the AVL; ensure records are complete, current, and auditable for AVL governance, AHJ inquiries, and FMV / capital markets reviews.
  • Author tech memos, install guides, integration diagrams, and troubleshooting guides as source content for the AVL Hub knowledge base; partner with the AVL Project Management sub-pod on packaging and distribution.
  • Provide product-domain technical input to Team IRA on DCA / FEOC / Safe Harbor / IRA §45Y / §48E matters (Team IRA owns the policy-compliance evidence); supply technical traceability artifacts to Strategy, Finance, and Capital Markets when FMV models are challenged or audited.
  • Partner with the Product & Commercial Strategy Manager on joint decisions: AVL add/retire calls, vendor QBRs, buy-vs-partner decisions for Qcells in-house products, and setpoint accuracy through to FMV.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, structural, or civil engineering, or related technical field; or equivalent experience / licensing including a minimum of 8+ years of professional experience including 5+ years directly relevant to this role and 2-3+ years in solar.
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth across the residential and small-commercial PV module and roof-mount racking vendor landscape — fluent in competitive positioning, failure modes, and installation of differentiators.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of at least two PV / storage modeling platforms (Aurora Solar, Solargraf, Solo, OpenSolar, PVsyst, SAM, HelioScope) including how module and racking libraries are structured.
  • Strong grasp of module datasheet parameters, degradation and loss factors, racking structural setpoints (ASCE 7, span tables, attachment patterns), and modeling assumptions that drive production estimates.
  • Working proficiency with Salesforce and Airtable — or demonstrated ability to become proficient quickly.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements: NEC, IBC / IRC, ASCE 7, UL 61730, UL 2703, interconnection processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and professional presence; this role authors technical content that becomes  EnFin's source of truth and represents EnFin to OEM partners and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, manage competing priorities, and deliver results under tight timelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • NABCEP PV Installation Professional, PV Design Specialist, or PV Technical Sales certification.
  • Hands-on PV / racking installation, inspection, or structural review experience.
  • P.E. license or prior work alongside structural PE reviewers for residential and commercial solar.
  • Experience working on or alongside a Smart Quote / design-to-proposal tool, vendor PIM, or equipment master-data program.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content review, RAG-based knowledge tooling, or MCP integrations.
  • Interest in scalable clean energy solutions and solar business operations.
