Overview:

Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Sr Systems Integration Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA.

 

Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems, Inc. company, designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations, and nuclear facilities.

 

This role is responsible for designing, securing, deploying, and maintaining the technical infrastructure that supports our product ecosystem across development, testing, and field deployment.

You will engineer and manage core systems such as virtualized environments, hardened Windows images, automation frameworks, and integrated IT/OT infrastructures. Success in this role requires deep expertise in PowerShell scripting, Hyper‑V virtualization, hardened image engineering, networking, and complex systems integration.

As a key contributor, you will collaborate with product engineering, cybersecurity, deployment teams, and field resources to translate requirements into robust IT solutions, build efficient automation, and maintain secure and scalable systems throughout the product lifecycle. This hands‑on role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building end‑to‑end solutions, solving multi-disciplinary challenges, and directly contributing to the secure and reliable delivery of production‑critical systems.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration tasks and streamline deployment processes.
• Design, configure, and manage Hyper‑V environments, including virtual machine creation, optimization, and lifecycle management.
• Create, manage, and deploy hardened Windows images using MDT or equivalent tooling.
• Integrate and support systems across complex IT and OT environments to ensure seamless functionality during deployment.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network components supporting development, testing, and operational environments.
• Partner closely with engineering and product teams to align IT infrastructure with development and deployment requirements.
• Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, deployment workflows, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Provide technical support during development and field deployment to resolve issues affecting product readiness or delivery.

Security & Compliance

• Implement security hardening standards (CIS, NIST, DISA STIGs) for Windows images, servers, and virtualized environments.
• Perform system audits, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
• Collaborate with security teams to embed security controls into deployment workflows and baseline images.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of secure configuration and deployment practices across the product lifecycle.

Monitoring & Logging

• Deploy and manage monitoring and telemetry solutions for virtual environments, network components, and integrated systems.
• Configure event logging, audit trails, and diagnostic tools to support proactive detection and troubleshooting.
• Develop dashboards, alerts, and automated reporting to enhance system visibility and operational readiness.

Lifecycle Management

• Manage patching, updates, image versioning, and configuration consistency for systems across all environments.
• Maintain and enforce baseline configurations that ensure system integrity and repeatable deployment.
• Participate in change management processes to coordinate updates and minimize operational disruption.

Operational Technology (OT) Integration

• Support secure integration between IT infrastructure and OT components such as PLCs, SCADA systems, RTUs, and HMIs.
• Engineer solutions that meet the unique constraints of industrial environments, including segmentation, availability, and real‑time requirements.
• Work with field engineering teams to validate reliable system behavior in manufacturing or industrial deployments.

Documentation & Standards

• Develop and maintain SOPs for virtualization, image creation, configuration standards, and deployment workflows.
• Contribute to architectural diagrams, system standards, and long‑term infrastructure planning.
• Maintain accurate, audit‑ready documentation for configurations, changes, and security-relevant technical details.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other similar discipline.
• 8+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and deployment.
• Experience with Hyper‑V or similar virtualization platforms.
• Expertise in hardened Windows image creation using MDT or comparable tools.
• Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls, routing).
• Experience integrating and managing systems across IT and OT environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in development, testing, and deployment contexts.
• Strong communication and cross‑team collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of PLCs, industrial networks, or other OT systems is a plus.

Pay may range from $145,000 to $160,000 annually

 

The pay range above represents annual base salary only.  Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as your job level, geographic location, date of hire, experience, job-related knowledge and skills, and education in conjunction with market and business considerations.

 

Base salary is one component of your total rewards package.  You may be eligible for long-term incentives, potential discretionary bonuses, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discounted rate through the Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP).  OSI also offers comprehensive benefits including various options for health plans, access to 401(k) retirement plan, health savings account, disability insurance, life insurance, AD&D insurance, leave of absence programs and an array of voluntary benefits.  In addition, paid time off is offered to be used for vacation, holidays, bereavement, and jury duty.  Full-Time salaried employees are entitled to flexible time-off.
