Description

IDR is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer – Mail & Messaging to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity.
This role is within a leading technology organization specializing in communication infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in supporting and optimizing enterprise email and messaging systems, working closely with senior engineers to ensure reliable and scalable services.

Position Overview for the Sr. Systems Engineer – Mail & Messaging:

  • Design, develop, and maintain services and automation supporting enterprise mail and messaging infrastructure.
  • Write and maintain production-quality code in Python or a comparable language to improve reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving email systems, backend services, networking, and Linux platforms.
  • Implement and support service integrations, APIs, and operational tooling used by the Mail & Messaging team.
  • Drive small to medium-sized projects within the team, identifying opportunities to improve processes, automation, and service health.

Requirements for the Sr. Systems Engineer – Mail & Messaging:

  • Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Linux-based systems in production environments.
  • Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language, with experience building and maintaining production services.
  • Experience supporting or developing internet email technologies such as SMTP, message routing, authentication, mail delivery, anti-spam controls, or related messaging platforms.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, distributed systems concepts, and system performance troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently deliver technical projects, collaborate across teams, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
