Sr. System Development Engineer, Manufacturing Systems Engineering

Key job responsibilities

Within Amazon, IT exists to accelerate development and enable scaled manufacturing. You will be working to establish a departmental IT team from the ground up, acquiring and managing commercial-off-the-shelf CAD/simulation/product software necessary for organizational growth.

• Architect, build, and administer commercial-off-the-shelf software applications consistent with Amazon"s standards and industry best practices.
• Partner with product managers, manufacturing engineering, and software build teams to understand customer needs, translate requirements into technical solutions, and prioritize work that delivers the highest business impact.
• Architect and deliver automation, including AI-driven self-healing and predictive maintenance capabilities, to reduce operational toil and improve consistency at scale across managed systems.
• Apply security-first design principles, establishing and maintaining identity management (AAA) using Amazon standard tooling (Federate, idPrism, Authguard) and ensuring all systems adhere to security policies and least-privilege principles.
• Implement observability and application integrations using AWS tooling to support growing operational demands at scale.
• Ensure high availability, resiliency, and business continuity for managed applications. Proactively identify recurring issues and drive resolution metrics to systematically improve system reliability.
• Assist with technical aspects of software vendor relationships and contract negotiations.
• Participate in a team oncall rotation.
