- Strong structural engineering background is critical.
- Focus is on structural engineering, seismic qualification, and seismic isolation rather than traditional civil engineering.
- Civil engineers focused primarily on site work, stormwater, etc. are not the target profile.
- Nuclear experience is highly preferred and is close to a requirement, although they will consider strong candidates from related industries.
- PE license is preferred, but not an absolute requirement. Candidates working toward a PE are worth considering; candidates with no intention of obtaining one are unlikely to be considered.
- Nuclear design/design-construction experience is highly desirable.
- Relevant codes/software should be reflected in the existing job description, including areas such as ASCE, ACI, IBC/IBC-related standards, Section III, etc.
