Staff Accountant
Johnston, RI | Pay rate: $34/hr W2 | 3 months contract
  • Prepare and post daily journal entries for loan-related transactions, primarily student loans and mortgage loans, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Perform month-end close activities, including reconciliations, accruals, and recurring monthly accounting entries.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and ensure proper application of debits, credits, and accounting principles.
  • Review incoming payments and process related accounting transactions in accordance with company procedures.
  • Utilize Oracle to post, review, and approve accounting entries; training provided as needed.
  • Create, update, and analyze spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data validation for reporting purposes.
  • Support the accounting team with ad hoc tasks, reporting requests, and coverage during employee leave.
  • Collaborate closely with a small onsite team to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of accounting deadlines.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail while meeting productivity and accuracy standards in a fast-paced environment.
