This role will perform key period-end accounting activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, internal controls, and support for forecasts and budgets.

The Senior Staff Accountant will support international entities, including foreign-currency accounting, intercompany activity, consolidation and reporting requirements, and coordination with local accounting teams and third-party service providers. The position will help ensure international financial results are complete, accurate, appropriately supported, and reported in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.

This position will collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Tax, Treasury, and international business partners to maintain accurate financial information, strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and support the company's expanding global operations.

    YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

    General Accounting and Financial Close

    • Actively participate in period, quarter, and year-end accounting close processes.
    • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, financial analyses, and other accounting workpapers.
    • Partner with business and finance teams to obtain information supporting accruals, estimates, reclassifications, allocations, and other accounting adjustments.
    • Analyze financial results, investigate period-over-period and forecast-to-actual variances, document findings, and communicate significant items to management.
    • Support the preparation of forecasts, annual budgets, and related financial analyses.
    • Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
    • Identify and recommend opportunities to standardize, automate, and improve accounting processes.

    International Accounting

    • Review international financial results for completeness, accuracy, compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies, and significant period-over-period and forecast-to-actual variances.
    • Research, document, and record adjustments between local statutory accounting requirements and U.S. GAAP, consulting internal and external resources as needed.
    • Perform foreign-currency accounting, including transaction gains and losses, remeasurement, translation, and cumulative translation adjustments.
    • Support intercompany accounting, including charges, allocations, settlements, reconciliations, eliminations, and resolution of out-of-balance positions.
    • Coordinate with international accounting teams, third-party providers, and business partners to resolve accounting and reporting matters.
    • Support the consolidation of international results, including financial statement mapping and resolution of matters affecting the consolidated financial statements.
    • Partner with Tax and Treasury on transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements, cash settlements, foreign exchange, and legal-entity activities.
    • Support statutory audits and local reporting requirements by providing accounting records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
    • Assist with acquisitions and expansion into new markets, including purchase accounting, opening balance sheets, entity integration, internal controls, and close-process alignment.

    Controls and Compliance

    • Perform assigned SOX controls and help ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal-control requirements, and established procedures.
    • Support the development and consistent execution of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls across international entities.
    • Evaluate the accounting and control implications of new entities, transactions, and process changes.
    • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and resolving audit requests.
    • Support remediation activities related to accounting or internal-control findings.

    THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA required.
    • 5 - 10 years of progressive accounting experience.
    • Experience performing general ledger accounting, financial close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
    • Experience supporting international entities, foreign-currency accounting, intercompany accounting, or consolidations preferred.
    • Working knowledge of international accounting frameworks, such as IFRS/UK FRS 102.
    • Public accounting or retail industry experience preferred.
    • Experience working with international accounting teams or third-party accounting service providers is a plus.
    • Experience with business acquisitions or the integration of new international entities is a plus.

    SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial processes, and SOX internal controls.
    • Working knowledge of foreign-currency accounting, intercompany accounting, consolidations, and international financial reporting.
    • General understanding of differences between U.S. GAAP and local statutory accounting frameworks, including IFRS or other applicable local standards.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research issues, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, entities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
