Overview
The Sr Solar Farm Technician is the senior-most individual-contributor technical role supporting one or more solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) sites, responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site assets. This role owns the most complex diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning activities; serves as the primary technical escalation point for the site; drives preventive maintenance strategy; and mentors technicians at all levels, contributing directly to team capability, safety culture, and asset performance.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for safely installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing solar (PV) systems and Inverters to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Support continuous power generation by independently diagnosing and resolving technical issues, collaborating with team members, and contributing technical expertise to ongoing operations and improvement initiatives.
• Provide organizational leadership in hazard recognition, mitigation strategies, and comprehensive energy isolation for high-criticality operations.
• Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following planned maintenance or outages.
• Perform safety and wind farm related tasks when assigned and act as backup to personnel at other sites when necessary.
• Assist with inverter maintenance including services, major component work, replacement, and troubleshooting.
• Support Balance of Plant procedures such as substation and collection system maintenance.
• Troubleshoot complex system and subsystem failures using advanced diagnostic techniques.
• Perform repairs on intricate systems and subsystems to ensure optimal functionality and minimize downtime.
• Develop maintenance plans to ensure systems and equipment operate efficiently.
• Collaborate in planning maintenance schedules to optimize resources and minimize downtime.
• Provide technical mentorship and strategic guidance across all levels of staff.
• Operate the site from the Control Room and guide technicians in the field.
• Adhere to safety standards, including hazard recognition and safety protocols, especially in high-criticality operations.
• Participate in on-call shift schedules and work under extreme weather conditions as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or certification in renewable energy technology or electrical systems preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience, including technical leadership roles within the renewable energy industry preferred.
• Expert knowledge of renewable energy systems and emerging technologies.
• Ability to interpret complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics accurately.
• Experience in leading incident investigations and implementing corrective measures.
• Strong organizational leadership skills in hazard recognition and energy isolation.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and resolve high-stakes technical problems.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and mentorship skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
