Overview
The Sr Solar Farm Technician is the senior-most individual-contributor technical role supporting one or more solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) sites, responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of site assets. This role owns the most complex diagnostics, repairs, and commissioning activities; serves as the primary technical escalation point for the site; drives preventive maintenance strategy; and mentors technicians at all levels, contributing directly to team capability, safety culture, and asset performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee production of renewable energy at all plants in the region, ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation within design parameters.
  • Monitor plant performance and resolve operational abnormalities to meet performance expectations.
  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repairs of plant components, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure long-term profitability and plant reliability.
  • Conduct operational analysis supporting Asset Management and Project Development activities.
  • Create, review, and distribute operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Stay informed of relevant regulations, codes, and standards affecting the industry.
  • Develop supplier relationships that yield beneficial synergies.
  • Manage contractors, act as local liaison, and develop long-range plans working with civic groups as required.
  • Coordinate, supervise, and monitor third-party contractors on-site.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in engineering or related field from an accredited US school preferred.
  • NABCEP Certification or Electrical License preferred.
  • Unrestricted driver license in good standing.
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in renewable energy, power plant operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance or supervising maintenance of medium/high voltage systems.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Renewable energy experience, especially solar, is a plus.
  • Skills in power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substation maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, electrical safety, and NEC standards.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work under deadlines, independently, or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Physical ability to lift and handle tools and equipment up to 50 lbs., and work safely in extreme environments.
