The Supercharger Team is responsible for Tesla's public fast charging products. As a Senior engineer on this team, you will be responsible for testing our EV charger features to ensure the quality and safety of the charging experience for both Tesla owners and third party EVs. You will architect, design, and implement firmware validation procedures, equipment, tooling, and automation to efficiently test charging components and subsystems. You will work closely with development and integration teams to explore and validate the performance capabilities of our hardware and firmware to ensure code quality is high. Your effort to create and equip automated validation infrastructures and coverage reporting will have a direct impact on the reliability, robustness, and value of our products. Design advanced automated test suites for the Hardware/Processor/Software-in-the-loop (HIL/PIL/SIL)
Bring up new validation platforms for our latest products
Emulate component I/O to test firmware prior to PCBA arrival
Setup and maintain CI/CD pipelines for test execution, integrating automated scripts with test management tools
Understand and deconstruct complicated software systems and devise strategies to test these systems
Create reporting mechanisms for automated testing for firmware and hardware
Work alongside the development and integration teams to create automated regression tests
Drive functional safety certification-grade testing coverage
Integrate AI tools to improve testing workflows
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience
Proficiency in Python, C, C++
5+ years of relevant experience in embedded design and validation
Expertise testing devices and debugging hardware (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM)
Experience in electronic and system schematic design and capture (Altium Designer) preferred
Knowledge of source control (Git) and continuous integration (Jenkins) preferred
Knowledge of EVSE, EVs preferred
Experience with FPGAs and HDLs (Verilog) preferred
Desired to have experience mentoring engineers, providing technical direction, and driving strategic planning for the team members

$120,000 - $396,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
