Description

BCforward is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Wilmington, DE for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. In this role, you will design, develop, and operate cloud-native applications, Java backend microservices, and event-driven architectures across multi-cloud environments for a financial services client. Key qualifications include 5+ years of software engineering experience, strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, and hands-on expertise with AWS/Azure services and Apache Kafka.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Rate: $65/hr to $70/hr on W2
Engagement: 6-month contract with conversion potential to Full-Time Employee (FTE)

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native applications and backend services using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and Azure.
Build, operate, and optimize event-driven streaming solutions leveraging Apache Kafka for pub/sub messaging.
Establish CI/CD pipelines, practice TDD, enforce cloud security controls, and coach teams on Agile frameworks and engineering patterns.

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and cloud application development.
Strong technical background in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and Apache Kafka streaming.
Practical experience across AWS and Azure cloud platforms, containerization, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD pipelines.
Deep knowledge of TDD, secure coding, application resiliency, and multi-OS enterprise architecture.
Leadership experience coaching technical teams, promoting Agile practices, or publishing technical best practices is preferred.
