Description

A leading innovator in medical robotics is seeking a Senior Robotic Controls Engineer to develop advanced control algorithms and enhance the performance of sophisticated robotic systems used in minimally invasive procedures. This position offers the opportunity to solve challenging engineering problems involving robotics, motion control, dynamic modeling, and complex electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and programming capabilities with hands-on robotics experience and a passion for developing reliable, high-performance technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Robotic Controls & Algorithm Development: Design, optimize, and troubleshoot advanced robotic control algorithms, including feedback control, motion control, and system dynamics, to improve precision, reliability, and performance.

  • Modeling, Simulation & Testing: Develop mathematical models, conduct simulations, and execute hands-on experiments to evaluate system behavior, validate engineering assumptions, and refine robotic performance.

  • Software Development & System Integration: Develop algorithms, analytical tools, and supporting software infrastructure while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams to integrate complex robotic systems.

  • Technical Problem-Solving & Innovation: Investigate challenging hardware and software issues, perform rigorous system testing, and contribute to next-generation robotic technologies through innovative engineering solutions.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: PhD in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, including candidates currently pursuing a doctorate; a master's degree with substantial relevant experience may also be considered. Minimum of 4 years of industry experience.

  • Programming & Controls Expertise: Strong proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB, with demonstrated experience developing robotic control algorithms, applying control theory, and performing dynamic system modeling; Python experience is advantageous.

  • Robotics & Mechatronics Background: Hands-on experience integrating hardware and software within complex electromechanical or robotic systems, including system characterization, simulation, experimentation, and troubleshooting.

  • Analytical & Collaborative Skills: Exceptional technical problem-solving abilities, a strong understanding of mechanical system behavior, and the ability to communicate effectively while working across multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Location: Sunnyvale, CA - Onsite - M-F Relocation Assistance Available

Salary: $184-230K base (DOE) (poss flex). + 15% bonus
