    Description

Do you have a builder"s mentality where "show me" means more than "tell me"? Are you passionate about technology, understand cloud architectures and platforms, and quick to pick up emerging technologies? Are you adept at working with customers to experiment with innovative approaches and validate the technical feasibility of solutions?

Core to Amazon"s DNA is its methodology around executing experiments and prototypes to find the quickest way to prove new ideas, technologies, and business models in a real-world environment. This experimentation fuels Amazon"s innovation.

Our team does horizon exploration. We take emerging technology, including our own inventions, build working prototypes with customers and partners, and demonstrate what becomes possible before the rest of the market gets there. Prototyping is how we do the work. Pushing the technology horizon is why we do it.

The role of the Prototyping Solutions Architect will apply these methods to assemble and build prototypes with leading customers around the world. You"ll work closely with AWS Sales Teams and AWS Service Developers to partner with customers to solve hard problems. Engagements run in short build cycles, typically four to six weeks, and are designed to be innovative and evaluative, demonstrating the art of the possible on AWS while proving a credible path to production. AWS is seeking a senior technical professional with real world expertise and experience to join the AWS Specialist Prototyping team to support our rapidly growing and dynamic business.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Work with AWS Prototyping engagement managers, solutions architects, customers, and partners to qualify and scope strategic prototyping use cases

    • Architect, design, develop and build working prototypes with customers

    • Extract best-practice knowledge, reference architectures, and patterns from engagements to promote re-use with the worldwide AWS community

    • Share insights and lessons learned with AWS Service teams to contribute to the continual improvement of AWS services based on Customer need

    • Develop and present detailed technical demonstrations and talks to Business and Technical leaders on 1:1 and 1:many/conference type situations

    • Position requires travel - generally around 25%

    About the team

The mission of AWS Prototyping is to accelerate customer adoption of AWS, expedite their path to production, and catalyze a culture of innovation.

Prototyping at AWS helps customers envision complex uses of AWS Services by building working prototypes of specific customer use cases, tailored to their data, devices and systems. Prototyping engagements are designed to be innovative and evaluative, demonstrating "the art of the possible" on AWS.

You will build across the areas where we are placing our biggest bets. These shift as the technology does, but today they include:

    • Physical AI and autonomous robotics. World models, vision-language-action (VLA) models, cloud-based and agentic VLA, real-to-sim and sim-to-real pipelines, and agentic control of physical systems.
    • Autonomous scientific discovery. Self-driving labs and instrument intelligence, where agents plan, run, and interpret experiments across fleets of scientific instruments.
    • Agentic developer intelligence. Multi-agent systems, code agents, and automated research workflows that change how software and science get built.
    • Scaling what we learn. Turning one-off prototypes into reusable patterns and assets the broader field can pick up and run with.

You will not just apply these techniques. You will help prove or disprove new bets in the open, with real customer problems and working code.

    About Company

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
