This role is direct hire, 100% remote. Compensation $130-170K (based on experience) plus full benefits.
Our client is a leader in the design and manufacture of custom-engineered pumps and motors for critical applications in power generation, nuclear research, and small modular reactor (SMR) development. They design, engineer, and manufacture to order.
To support a large contract with a SMR to custom engineer and manufacture reactor pumps for a new build, they are expanding their Advanced Nuclear Group and have created a new opening for a Project Engineer to serve as their Supplier Interface. This person hired into this position will be responsible for technical oversight and coordination of suppliers supporting the design and manufacture of custom-engineered pump systems; ensuring that supplier deliverables meet technical, quality, and schedule requirements.
Requirements:- Due to Federal Contract requirements, US Citizenship is required for this position.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in engineering roles within industrial equipment, energy, or nuclear-related projects.
- Supplier technical oversight (deliverables, execution) experience specifically with rotating equipment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- Background with ASME Section III and/or Section VIII.
- Familiarity with nuclear industry requirements and quality standards (e.g., NQA-1) is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities:Supplier Technical Oversight- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure supplier designs, materials, and processes meet project technical requirements and specifications.
- Review and provide technical feedback on supplier submittals, drawings, calculations, and procedures.
- Support resolution of technical issues arising during design, fabrication, and testing.
Supplier Deliverables & Execution- Coordinate supplier deliverables to align with overall project schedule and milestones.
- Track supplier progress and ensure timely completion of engineering and manufacturing outputs.
- Identify and escalate risks related to supplier performance, quality, or schedule.
Supplier Action & Issue Tracking- Maintain supplier action item logs, including technical queries, nonconformances, and open issues.
- Drive closure of supplier technical actions in coordination with internal engineering and quality teams.
- Ensure documentation and traceability of supplier communications and decisions.
Cross-Functional Coordination (Supplier-Focused)- Work closely with procurement, quality, manufacturing, and engineering teams to support supplier execution.
- Support supplier selection and technical evaluations as needed.
- Coordinate technical support for supplier inspections, testing, and manufacturing activities.
Quality & Compliance Support- Ensure supplier work aligns with applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements.
- Support review and disposition of nonconformances and corrective actions.
- Participate in supplier audits, inspections, and technical reviews as required.
Change Management (Supplier Side)- Evaluate supplier-driven technical changes and deviations.
- Coordinate internal review and approval of supplier change requests.
- Assess impacts to system integration, schedule, and performance.
