Sr. Production Technician – Spacecraft Assembly
Location: Palo Alto, CA
Employment Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $37.40/hr
Schedule: 4/40 Weekend Swing Shift — Friday to Monday, 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM (10-hour shifts)

About the Role
ATR International is seeking a motivated and skilled Sr. Production Technician on behalf of our client, a leader in the aerospace and spacecraft manufacturing industry. In this role, you will support the assembly, handling, and testing of spacecraft and spacecraft components across various stages of the build process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly and test of communications satellites and ground support equipment
  • Assist Mechanical Vehicle Engineers (MVEs) in developing assembly and test processes, methods, sequences, assembly aids, and test setups
  • Assemble and install active and passive flight components per engineering drawings, specifications, and procedures — including structural parts and assemblies, RF waveguides, electronic boxes, coax cables, harnesses, antennas, and thermal blankets
  • Maintain documentation including ASIs, rework shop orders, component installation logs, mate/demate logs, and task logs
  • Handle spacecraft during build phases
  • Assemble and check out ground support equipment
  • Set up and support test equipment
  • Operate cranes, man lifts, tugs, and other handling equipment
  • Provide guidance and training to junior personnel

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • High school diploma
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Ability to accommodate shift work, including mandatory overtime as needed
  • Strength and flexibility to work on ladders up to 18 feet and platforms/man lifts up to 40 feet
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (e.g., spacecraft interior, thermal vacuum and acoustic chambers)
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work lying flat on chest on an extended platform for most of a shift
  • Ability to obtain certifications in ESD Awareness, Contamination Control, Flight Hardware Handling, DC Connector Mate/Demate, Adhesive Bonding, Thermal Compound Bonding, and Component Torquing
  • Ability to understand and adhere to all safety requirements (safety glasses, safety shoes, ear protection, fall protection, etc.)

Preferred Requirements

  • A&P certification or equivalent work history
