Position: Sr. Process Engineer / Project Engineer (Process)
Location: Waukegan, IL 60087 onsite

Pay Rate: 65.00 - 85.00 per hour W2

I am looking for a strong Process Engineer / Project Engineer to support capital projects and process improvements within an API Pilot Plant environment.
This person will lead equipment installations, facility upgrades, commissioning activities, and construction oversight while partnering closely with Operations, Maintenance, Validation, Quality, and Automation teams.
Responsibilities
• Support capital projects from design through startup and commissioning
• Lead process equipment installations, modifications, and facility upgrades
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and contractor activities
• Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and qualification
• Develop and review engineering documentation including URS, commissioning, and validation documents
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Validation, and Automation teams
• Drive process improvements focused on safety, reliability, and efficiency
Requirements
• BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• 10+ years of Process Engineering and/or Project Engineering experience
• Pharmaceutical, API, biotech, fine chemical, or specialty chemical manufacturing experience
• Capital project experience within a manufacturing environment
• Experience managing contractors and supporting construction activities
• Strong knowledge of process equipment and engineering design
• Commissioning, qualification, and validation experience
• Exposure to Process Control Systems, DCS, and/or PLC-based control systems
• API Pilot Plant experience
• Peptide manufacturing experience
• Tank farm and fire protection system experience
• Scale-up or process development experience
• GMP-regulated manufacturing experience
This is not a pure Project Manager role. We're looking for someone with strong process engineering experience who has also successfully executed capital projects in a pharmaceutical or specialty chemical manufacturing environment.
