Job Overview

This role requires a highly engaged, hands-on leader capable of leading a manufacturing site through operational transformation. The successful candidate will be a visible presence on the production floor, partnering closely with frontline employees, supervisors, and functional leaders to drive safety, quality, delivery, cost, and culture improvements. The Plant Manager will foster a high-accountability culture, lead change with urgency, and build organizational capability to achieve sustainable performance improvements.

As the Plant Manager of our El Cajon, CA facility, you will serve as the overall site leader, accountable for all aspects of plant performance, including engineering, manufacturing, financial results, employee engagement, and compliance. This role has direct leadership over engineering, operations, EHS, and Supply Chain with dotted-line influence over support functions (Finance, and HR).

Job Requirements

  1. Full Site Leadership & Strategy Execution
  • Lead the manufacturing plant with full accountability for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement
  • Develop and execute a site strategy aligned with TE Medical's global objectives
  • Own the P&L for the site, ensuring cost control, productivity improvements, and financial success
  • Drive strategic initiatives in automation, Industry 4.0, and digital transformation
  1. Site Transformation & Change Leadership
  • Lead the continued transformation of the manufacturing site, establishing a culture of accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement
  • Develop and execute recovery and performance-improvement plans to improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and financial performance
  • Drive organizational change through active coaching, communication, and employee engagement
  • Challenge the status quo and remove barriers to performance while building trust across all levels of the organization
  • Establish clear metrics, routines, and management systems that drive sustainable results
  1. Operations & Engineering Leadership
  • Maintain a strong daily presence on the manufacturing floor through structured Gemba walks and direct engagement with employees
  • Partner with frontline teams to identify operational issues, remove obstacles, and accelerate problem resolution
  • Drive disciplined execution through visual management, tiered accountability meetings, and leader standard work
  • Oversee engineering and manufacturing operations, ensuring best practices in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), scrap reduction, cycle times, and throughput
  • Lead capacity planning and capital investment decisions to support future business growth and strategy
  1. Talent Development & High-Performance Culture
  • Lead, develop, and mentor site leadership teams
  • Build a culture of accountability, ownership, and respect
  • Develop frontline leadership capabilities and strengthen supervisory effectiveness
  • Create high levels of employee engagement through communication, visibility, and active coaching
  • Foster collaboration across operations, engineering, supply chain, quality, EHS, HR, and finance to achieve site objectives
  • Drive succession planning and organizational capability development
  • Increase employee engagement, retention, and workforce readiness for the future
  1. Financial Performance & Cost Efficiency
  • Ensure budget adherence, cost reductions, and operational efficiencies
  • Lead capital planning and investment strategies for plant growth and innovation
  • Optimize supply chain coordination to reduce inventory costs and improve material flow
  1. Compliance, Safety & Risk Management
  • Ensure full regulatory compliance with ISO 9001, ITAR and environmental standards
  • Create a zero-incident safety culture, partnering with EHS leaders to proactively address risks
  • Maintain cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, and facility security

What your background should look like

  • Demonstrated success leading manufacturing turnarounds, transformations, or significant performance improvement initiatives
  • Proven track record improving safety, quality, delivery, employee engagement, and productivity within a complex manufacturing environment
  • Experience building high-performing teams and driving cultural change
  • Strong executive presence combined with a hands-on, servant leadership approach
  • 15+ years of experience in plant management, operations, or engineering leadership
  • 10+ years of direct people leadership experience, including multi-functional teams
  • Aerospace or other highly regulated industry experience preferred
  • Strong P&L and financial acumen, with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets
  • Proven expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, automation, and Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Bachelor's degree required (Engineering, Business, or related field); MBA preferred

COMPENSATION

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $167,800 - $209,700 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
