Position OverviewWheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced
Senior Payroll Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Southlake, TX. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for a large, multi-site and multi-state employee population.
The ideal candidate brings
5+ years of payroll experience, including processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll for
1,000+ employees across multiple states. Strong experience with
Paycom is highly preferred, while candidates with Workday experience will also be considered. Previous payroll experience within the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll from start to finish for 1,000+ employees.
Manage payroll activities across multiple locations and states, including Texas, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New York.
Enter, review, and maintain payroll data within Paycom or Workday.
Process direct deposits, salary changes, bonuses, reimbursements, PTO, deductions, and other payroll transactions.
Review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies before payroll processing deadlines.
Process new-hire payroll information and ensure accurate employee data entry.
Respond to employee payroll questions professionally and in a timely manner.
Manage employment verifications and research payroll-related discrepancies.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports related to gross pay, deductions, taxes, and other payroll activity.
Review W-2 information for accuracy and compliance.
Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations.
Maintain confidentiality and accuracy when handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
Partner with Human Resources, management, and other internal teams to resolve payroll issues and support business needs.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
5+ years of end-to-end payroll processing experience.
Experience processing payroll for 1,000+ employees.
Strong multi-state and multi-site payroll experience.
Experience managing both weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles.
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and tax requirements.
Experience with payroll systems and employee data management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to payroll accuracy.
Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced payroll environment.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
Paycom payroll processing experience highly preferred.
Workday payroll experience will also be considered.
Previous payroll experience within the healthcare industry.
Experience supporting payroll across Texas, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and/or New York.
Experience working within a large, multi-location organization.
