    • Associate degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • 3+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a high-volume, multi-state, in-house payroll environment.
    • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations, garnishments, gross-to-net calculations, and payroll compliance.
    • Experience using payroll, human resources, and timekeeping systems.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

    Preferred:

    • Experience with Workday and/or UKG/Kronos.
    • Experience with payroll reporting, audits, and data analysis.
    • Healthcare payroll experience.
    • The Senior Payroll Specialist plays a key role in processing payrolls, maintaining employee payroll data, and supporting payroll compliance and reporting efforts. In this position, you'll support payroll operations across a large, multi-state organization, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You'll collaborate across teams, provide excellent service to employees and managers, and help resolve payroll-related issues in a fast-paced environment.

    This position is based at our headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee. Training will be conducted in-office initially, with the opportunity to transition to a hybrid work arrangement upon successful completion of training.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain employee payroll data within Workday and related systems.
    • Process regular, supplemental, and off-cycle payrolls accurately and on time.
    • Establish garnishment deductions and remit payments to applicable agencies.
    • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
    • Support payroll audits, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance activities.
    • Participates as an active team member by assisting other payroll processors with issues, training new processors, reviewing payroll maintenance and processing payrolls.
    • Assist employees and managers with questions on timesheets and payroll matters, while providing prompt and excellent customer service.
    • Completes special projects and other assignments assigned by the Payroll Supervisor, Manager or Payroll Director.
