    Job Title: Sr. Packaging Engineer
    Location: Sparks, NV
    Duration: 12 Months
    Travel: Up to 30%

    Job Summary:

    We are looking for a Sr. Packaging Engineer to support packaging design and development for Tesla's Vehicle and Energy products. The engineer will work with Design, Manufacturing, NPI, Operations, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams to develop effective and cost-efficient packaging solutions.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead packaging projects from design through production.
    • Develop packaging containers, dunnage, and shipping racks.
    • Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams.
    • Create and review CAD designs and technical drawings.
    • Apply GD&T, datum structures, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
    • Select and evaluate packaging materials such as aluminum, steel, foam, and composites.
    • Support packaging testing and validation.
    • Monitor packaging KPIs and improve packaging standards.
    • Support expendable-to-returnable packaging projects and sustainability initiatives.
    • Manage project timelines, budgets, risks, and changes.
    • Support vendor selection and vendor management.
    • Identify and resolve packaging and manufacturing issues.
    • Travel up to 30% as required.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
    • Experience with CAD and technical drawings.
    • Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and injection molding.
    • Experience with packaging materials including aluminum, steel, composites, and foam.
    • Knowledge of packaging testing and validation.
    • Familiarity with standards such as ASTM and MIL-Spec.
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
    • Willingness to travel up to 30%.

    Preferred

    • Automotive, manufacturing, or energy industry experience.
    • Experience with returnable packaging and shipping racks.
    • Experience working with suppliers and logistics teams.
    • Packaging sustainability experience.
