Description and Overview

The NSX/AVI Senior Consultant will implement architectures defined by the Architect, focusing on build, integration, validation, and operational activities within customer environments. This is a senior technical position within the Professional Services Organization (PSO) specializing in Applications & Network Security (ANS). The role emphasizes hands-on expertise with VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI), NSX networking and security services, multi-cloud architectures, GSLB, WAF, and container ingress while supporting enterprise-grade security integrations such as PKI, DNS, and MFA. This is a tactical delivery role requiring strong technical skills, customer-facing professionalism, deep troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to communicate technical impact to business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, deploy, and configure VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI) solutions for enterprise and mission-critical applications.
• Deploy and configure NSX, AVI, and VMware Cloud Foundation components.
• Execute build plans, implement network, security, storage, and application delivery policies, and validate integration points.
• Lead greenfield and brownfield AVI implementations, including Controller and Service Engine design, placement, scaling, and HA.
• Design and implement Avi GSLB, traffic policies, application profiles, and load balancing services across multi-site and multi-cloud environments.
• Define and enforce AVI configuration standards and best practices.
• Provide hands-on administration of AVI Controllers, Service Engines, WAF, and GSLB components.
• Perform platform lifecycle activities including upgrades, patching, backups, restores, and capacity planning.
• Manage AVI and NSX architectures and ensure platform resiliency, performance, and availability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve deployment issues, escalating as needed.
• Work alongside the Architect to align delivery with design specifications.
• Document configurations, runbooks, as-built documentation, and operational procedures for customer handoff.
• Provide knowledge transfer and support customer teams during Day-1 and Day-2 activities.
• Work directly with customer technical teams and maintain professional customer-facing communication.
• Communicate technical risks, impacts, and recommendations to customer and business stakeholders. Required Skills & Experience
• 7+ years of experience in application delivery, infrastructure, networking, or VMware consulting and professional services.
• 5+ years of deep, hands-on experience with VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer (AVI).
• Hands-on deployment of NSX and network consumption models for VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) 5.x / 9.x.
• Expert knowledge of:
  • AVI Controllers and Service Engines
  • AVI GSLB
  • AVI WAF
  • AVI HA, scale-out, and multi-site architectures
• Proven experience deploying AVI in enterprise, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments.
• Strong network troubleshooting skills, path analysis, and Layer 1-7 troubleshooting.
• Strong technical skills in vSphere, NSX, vSAN, VKS, and SDDC Manager.
• Experience with load balancing, application delivery, SSL/TLS offload, GSLB, and web application security.
• Experience with Kubernetes ingress and container networking.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in customer-facing engagements.

• VMware Certified Professional VMware Cloud Foundation Administrator (2V0-17.25)
• VMware Cloud Foundation Architect (2V0-13.25)
• AVI Certified Administrator and/or VMware certifications.
• Experience with Zero Trust, micro-segmentation, and NSX security services.
• Experience integrating AVI with monitoring, automation, and CI/CD platforms.

• SSL/TLS and PKI certificate lifecycle management (CA, CRL, OCSP).
• DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, BGP, OSPF, and NAT.
• WAF policy creation, tuning, and optimization.
• Micro-segmentation and Zero Trust architectures.
• Enterprise security integrations including PKI, DNS, and MFA. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
