Job Summary Th e Sr. Metrology Engineer II, as part of the Division Quality – Metrology group, leads metrology tech transfer from R&D to production lines and provides technical expertise in metrology. This role drives projects from concept through implementation, ensuring robust measurement solutions, gauge development, system qualification, and production readiness. The engineer collaborates cross-functionally to improve product quality, reliability, and long-term metrology capability. Key Responsibilities Lead metrology projects from concept through implementation to support R&D-to-manufacturing transfer Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, engineering, manufacturing, software, and controls teams Develop metrology strategies including gauge capability, capacity, lead time, and cost evaluation Survey and qualify gauges to meet new test requirements for critical product characteristics (glass defects, size, weight, reliability, optical/mechanical performance) Design and validate test methods using existing metrology systems Support fixture/tool development for metrology applications Develop measurement data reporting, traceability, and usability with software/controls teams Document engineering work including work instructions and qualification reports Train users and provide technical support for deployed systems Provide troubleshooting leadership for metrology issues and corrective actions Drive metrology governance including gauge alignment and MSA standardization across plants and customer sites Evaluate gauge capability and drive continuous improvement and long-term capability development Required Qualifications BS or higher in Metrology, Precise Instruments, Optics, Machine Vision, Physics, Materials Science, Automation, or Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred) Knowledge of metrology principles (calibration traceability, data uncertainty, gauge qualification types) Knowledge of MSA Proficiency with MS Office Familiarity with Minitab, Origin, Matlab, and Python Basic statistics and reporting capability Strong communication skills Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with machine vision systems Experience in a test lab or glass defects inspection system development Education: Bachelors Degree
