    Who We Want
    We are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to work in our Engineering department within our Flex Air division in Fenton, MI. Flex Air is an industry leading design and manufacturer of custom industrial mechanical and electrical modular buildings and custom high-performance HVAC systems. Every solution is meticulously engineered to meet and exceed our customer’s expectations. Our products consist of custom air handling units, pre-fabricated modular mechanical buildings and electrical enclosures. The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will review project specifications, research, design, and document solutions for commercial and industrial HVAC, hydronic plants, and electrical power distribution projects. Additionally, they will provide engineering support for installation, testing, and repair of these products and systems.

    What You Will Be Doing
    • Lead design of mechanical systems and equipment across various industrial applications through all phases of the design and construction phases.
    • Evaluate products and components to ensure function and performance by conducting research and using experience.
    • Create, modify and review 2D and 3D CAD data, product documents, and bills of material to confirm products meet the full intent of customer design requirements.
    • Assure product quality and function by developing and renewing engineering best practices and SOPs
    • Work cross functional across sales, operations, and quality departments to ensure product designs satisfy requirements of all key stakeholders.
    • Support of project management with project schedule and requirement coordination.
    • Evaluate raw material processing equipment. Recommend purchase of capital equipment items designed to improve production efficiency.
    • Ensure that all legal and regulated obligations (i.e. OSHA, building codes) from an Engineering and Design standpoint meet all federal, state or local laws and regulations.
     
    What Requirements Are Needed
    Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university. At least seven (7) years of concurrent Mechanical Engineering experience or similar market experience.
    • Fundamental knowledge of mechanical systems, hydronics, HVAC, and construction industries.
    • Manufacturing knowledge of structural steel, welding and sheet metal design.
    • 2D and 3D CAD modelling skills.
    • Excellent root cause analysis skills.
    • Knowledge of Mechanical Piping, HVAC design, and Industrial Manufacturing desired.
    • Modular construction and data center experience is a plus.
