Location: Northlake, IL 60164

This is an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a key technical partner between Project Managers, customers, engineers, subcontractors, and manufacturing, while taking ownership of MEP design coordination within a BIM environment.  The company emphasizes career advancement, professional development, and maintaining work-life balance with highly flexible hours and a remote day each week of your choosing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop detailed MEP layouts, schematics, schedules, and construction documentation within a BIM environment.
  • Partner with Project Managers, customers, engineers, subcontractors, sales, and shop personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, phasing plans, MEP system interrelationships, construction sequencing, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate MEP systems and facilitate problem-solving between subcontractors during construction.
  • Identify MEP design issues and develop practical alternative solutions.
  • Incorporate field changes, client markups, and as-built information into drawings and project deliverables.
  • Assist with MEP scope reviews, budgeting, and change-order justification.
  • Create, coordinate, and administer MEP-related material, system, and shop drawing submittals.
  • Maintain accurate design documentation, version control, and quality records.
  • Create, manipulate, and coordinate Revit families, views, browser structures, sheets, schedules, filters, and work sets.
  • Utilize Autodesk Navisworks and Autodesk Design Review for coordination and 3D design activities.
  • Integrate spreadsheets, photographs, images, and other documentation into Revit projects and deliverables.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must have at least 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience in Revit.
  • Must be fluent in Autodesk Revit with the ability to design Revit families and work with Revit modeling and coordination.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D plans electronically and in hard copy.
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Navisworks and Autodesk Design Review.
  • Working knowledge of 3D layout and design.
  • Strong drafting and CAD capabilities.
