Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for an advanced nuclear energy company, a great opportunity for someone with experience in equipment and component design looking to further their career in nuclear engineering.

• Design reactor core components, structures, and nuclear island equipment, producing models, drawings, and specifications
• Apply GD&T to highly toleranced, machined components and assemblies (about 50% CAD, 50% design)
• Perform trade studies and finite element stress analysis; develop tests to validate design requirements
• Plan design activities, review team work, and guide engineers and subcontractors

Essential Qualifications

• 5+ years of equipment/component design experience (M.S. credits up to 2 years; Ph.D. up to 4)
• Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, FEA, design of experiments, and DFM/DFA
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Bonus Qualifications

• Nuclear core assembly design; familiarity with ASME BPVC Section III Div. 5 and DOE/NRC regulations
• Precision machined component design in aerospace, space, or defense; ANSYS; first article production
